Funnel in fuel tank

/ Funnel in fuel tank #21
I'm new on here, and also a novice at mowing, and cannot find how to post a question, so i will just reply to this question with a question. I dropped a wooden stick that I use to check the fuel level (no gauge on tank) into the tank. Now it is on the bottom of the tank. Should I try to fish it out (I was afraid of removing a sensor), or will it deteriorate over time and mess up the engine?

I would not worry, that's why you have a fuel filter. If it blocks your fuel pickup then you will have to do something.

I have one in my Kioti.... been there for about 6 months. Will be there for life probably.

I tried to grab it after draining the tank and using a telescopic/flex camera with grip....could not see a thing in there... even with a lighted flex camera.

It has not caused any issues.

Try using a wire clothes hanger to fish it out. Cut it to size and put a hook on the end of it.

be careful that you dont mess up the fuel float mechanism doing this.

Those funnels are made of a special low melting point plastic. just drop a match in the tank and it will easily melt and not be a problem.

NO!!!
DON'T DO IT!!!
It's a joke!

I have a grabber with strong sharp grippies.

I dropped the spout in the BX's fuel tank a while back. Couldn't get it out, so it's still in there. Has not caused any problems yet...

I had a problem with some loose rust flakes in my old JD 1010 gas tank so I thought I would use a flex tool with a magnet on the end, to pickup the loose rust. The flex tool got hung up on something , perhaps a baffle or perhaps the sending unit and would not come out. After many attempts to remove the tool, I cut as much off the flex tool as I could and pushed the remainder into the tank, that was probably 10 years ago and no problem since. I think the loose rust has adhered to the magnet and solved the first problem.

Count me in the club, I dropped my black nozzle into the black fuel tank. I tried all of the above ideas, but no luck. Just mess's with the fuel float and reads empty at times no other problems. Been about a year now.

I know a guy who broke a funnel off in his New Holland while he was putting hydraulic oil in it.
