First was The Kentucky Derby, then the Preakness, and tomorrow… Belmont…

(What's really exciting is Saratoga is in my backyard… and they are talking about this horse and comparing him to Seabiscuit from 1938…)

Yeh, it is pretty exciting. Sackets Harbor, where the 10 "friends" are from is about 10 miles from me.

They wore Funny Cide buttons and carried homemade signs to get his attention: Funny Cide for President, We (heart) Funny Cide, Who's Laughing -- One More Jewel to Claim.

"He's a very happy horse. He eats mints out of your hand," LaBelle said. "If he could whistle, he would. He loves the cameras. You can tell when he goes to the race track that it's like 'Oh boy, now the fun is about to start.' "

A Horatio Alger horse, Funny Cide "picked the pockets of the blue bloods and the sheiks," LaBelle said. "He's already done something no New York-bred or gelding has ever done. Now he just has to become immortal."
