Fusable link

Seems like some time back my tractor burned out a fuseable link near the starter, and I MIGHT have bypassed it. I know stupid, but I did it. I had forgotten all about it till I recently got my manual, with a wiring diagram and THERE IT WAS. My question is, are they all the same? My manual gives me no specs on it. Are they a common amperage?

Trace the burnt F-link wire to the circuit breaker to see what size (amps) it is. That done, just use an inline fuse the same size (amperage) to replace the burnt out F-link. That way if it ever happens again it's an easy fix and you know right where to look. Good luck, KW

The wire (hot wire from hot side of solenoid) comes from the starter solenoid, and goes directly to the ign switch (terminal 30). The wire on the other side of the ign switch (Terminal AC), goes to the entire fuse block. There is a 10, 5, and another 10 amp fuse in the block. Does this mean it's a 25 amp load carrying wire, thus a 25 amp fuse link?

To be certain all aspects of this situation are considered, investigate how amps from the alternator get to the battery. Does the alternator output go to the starter solenoid through the fusible link or by another path? If the path is through the link, what is the rated output of the alternator?

I'd go with maybe a 15 or 20 amp fuse, that way the fuse will blow before anything else.

That makes sense. I wondered why a link instead of another fuse.
