FX-26D 4x4 Question

Ernie you're too kind but have to confess that is the pic I took of the tractor at your place when I was still looking. All the credit goes to you.

Right now the tractor is looking a lot less clean but shortly when the weather improves, it'll get cleaned up again.

For the OP, have to give thanks to Ernie for the decals.

The knob controls flow to the 3 Pt Hitch. All the way in locks the 3 PT.

Up on the Front Wheel drive lever activates. If it isn't working after pulling up on lever and putting in gear, then it has a problem. Check to see if it still has the front drive shaft. If it does then check to see what is moving and where it stops. Start from the Xmission forward. Remember both the 4WD and Xmission must be engaged.

Anyone have any FX parts tractors. That very pretty left side dash panel shown in the picture was burned in a welding accident.

Luv my FX24. Had it for 6 Yrs. Great tractor.

Thanks blackd, mark777, kaysupply and others who replied to help me on this. The problem I reported above (FX-26D not activating front drive when shifting to 4WD) is resolved. Seems there are metal ball-bearings around the forward drive shaft (toward the front of the forward drive shaft, which is enclosed) that somehow fell out of place or were misplaced during tractor reconditioning, or whatever, that prevented the front drive from engaging. Replacing these bearings fixed the problem and now my 4WD works great. This work was handled by the previous owner (reseller) and covered under my warranty - that's the good news. Does this problem and/or fix ring any bells out there with other Yanmar 4x4 owners?
Quick question blackd ...how does the 3-pt hitch knob actually work, that is, does all the way in lock the 3-pt at whatever position it is at, lock it so that it can't operate? What does halfway in do or all the way out do?
Also, you said move the lever "down" to engage 4WD, I have to move the lever up for 4WD on my 26. Does that sound right? Thanks.

Yes, the ball bearings usually fall out during disassembly or re-assembly, but not under normal use /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif.

Very interesting. Hopefully this will never happen again ... well, at least, as long as the tractor stays together, right! Thanks again. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I misspoke in the lever direction. I very seldom use the 3Pt adjustment, so I'm guessing here, but I think it will lock it in whatever position it is sitting.
