I've had my tractor for 2 yrs now and it's done everything I've asked of it. To date it has never given me any trouble. I would not hesitate to recommend one of these models to anyone. Maybe I'm lucky to have a dealer like Ernie that likes and suppports these models.

For anyone that has an F series with UFO controls I'd highly recommend you think about mounting one of the level sensors found on some of the Yanmar tillers and mount it to a quick mount hitch. With this setup all 3pt implements can be leveled and maintained level with the flip of a switch on the right fender.

Hi Mickey

I had a chance to try out the level sensor on the FX235.
It was a little strange to see the tractor running the tiller all by itself.
It was tilting side to side with every movement of the land in order to keep itself level, did a nice job though!

Next spring I think I might try it out on the brush hog mower or the finish mower and see what happens.

We got a really nice FX265 in a little while ago (temptation).

But my lovely wife says I have enough yanmars for now.

Mickey, I am curious of the auto leveling feature as my F22D has the UFO controls, (two round knobs and a joystick). I have never quite figured out how to use the controls other than for tilting my box blade. What is the level sensor that you are refering to? Is it the square electronic box that is mounted to the hydrolic piston on the right 3pt arm? How do use the controls, I have tried to find instructions from the manual but there really isnt any good explanation. I know I'm asking a lot but just trying to learn

From comments from Ernie and Mark777 they've never heard of anyone else that has ever hooked up the UFO controls. I'm just exploring in the dark for what the UFO controls are capable of.

The box you are refering to is a sensor but it's only capable of "leveling" the right 3pt link with respect to the left one. I found the auto tilt/leveling will level out the link IF you pull the position control lever ALL the way back. Forget which switch and position to turn this function on.

What I was talking about is the electronic sensor typ mounted on the tiller itself (a small black box with 3' cable) and has a cable that plugs into the tractor right above the right lift arm. Looks like a mil-spec connector with a screw-on cap. With this sensor connected to the tractor and the forward UFO switch turned clockwise, the controls will hold the implement level (bubble level and not parallel to the ground) in real time. The hyd lift on the right has enough range to handle about +/- 10°.

In addition to the auto control on the tiller I've mounted one of these electronic sensors to my QMH so anything that mounts to the hitch can be auto leveling.

I've posted to several tractor forums including pics of the whole set-up. Do a search here for something like tiller with me as the author and you may find the post. Think it was something like 6 months ago. Don't recall which forum.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to have to mess around around with the UFO settings a little more after reading Mickeys post. F-series are really nice tractors, thinking of getting another one like a F/X 26 in the future which I believe are a little larger frame and more operator room. I still really like my F22 and the manual shift does not bother me as I think the gears are synchronized and I can upshift on the go very smoothly, just would like maybe a bit more space and weight. I am posting a pic of my operator are for jimmer2880.

Thank you. I see now, it's actually on the inside of the fender. Mine, is mounted on the fender itself, facing up and towards the front.

For what it's worth, I've had my FX24-D for 8 years now, and have not needed any parts that Hoye, or several other dealers here have not had in stock. I have replaced my original alternator with an early model GM. Parts I have replaced, glow plugs (my decision not actually needed), voltage limiter, had the fron weal go which was replaced by seller. Otherwise, my abuse has not hurt.

BTW, did not use UFO, and replaced electronic with hydraulic valve when electronic controls went out. For those that do not have it, the controls adjust the right three Pt arm up and down.

I've weighed my tractor and it tips the scales a lot heavier than the specs. The FEL and fluid in the rear tires contirbute to the added weight along with my fat rear end. My Fx24 tips the scale with just me in the seat just shy of 4,000#.

One of the problems with the F series and possibly some others is the short wheelbase. Way too much weight transfer from the bucket on to the front axle. Based on calc for every lb in the bucket the front axle sees 2#. Using the stk front tires rating as a reference, with the bucket empty the tires are seeing their max rated capacity. I'm not happy with that but I have picked up a fairly large tree stump that weighed something on the order of 800# and nothing failed but the rear axle was pretty lite.

If yours weighs 4000# with you in the seat then I gues mine should weigh at least 3200 + as there is not that big of a size difference between our tractors and I also have the rears filled. I was thinking the same thing about the wheelbase and thats why I was possibly wanting to upgrade to a F/X-26 due to the longer wheelbase which I would imagine would give more operator room also. Powerwise I have never bogged down my tractor and dont think I couldas traction becomes an issue before power would. I have the Koyker 120 loader on mine as thats what Buck at EFC recomended due to the size of tractor / so It would'nt be as hard on the front end. I have seen pictures of these tractors in japan with a loader so i know they built the tractor to be able to handle a loader.
