I just read in the local newspaper that a 20-year old man armed with a .38 revolver broke into a rural home early yesterday morning, and was shot several times by a woman who lived in the house and when police arrived, they found the suspect had also been beaten with a baseball bat and been handcuffed, he was lying just inside the front door. Police suspect he broke in because of the 57 marijuana plants that were growing in the basement of the residence. They also found seven guns in the house along with the residents, a man and woman and four children ages ranging from 4 months to ten years.

Gary until the kids found out the Hemp plant had other uses I don't know how long after ww11 it was grown for the hemp to make rope. Then had to be destroyed.
Still have a rope made by my father. mid 40's never considered to smoke it.

I thought marijuana was supposed to make you nonviolent/mellow? Guess these people didn't get that memo.

While I would normally applaud the reaction of the property owners in using deadly force to protect themselves against a burglary, it truthfully scares me that they had so many weapons at hand, especially with children on the premises, and I doubt if they had not been doing something illegal (manufacturing drugs) the incident would have even occurred. According to the story, the residence has been the site of numerous suspicious activities over the past several years.

Here in Washington, it is legal to have pot in the basement. But they are still trying to find ways to tax it. So here no problem.

Actually Pete.....even with our new laws....I don't think you can have 57 plants in the basement. On the brighter side......did ya hear....
