I don't know what to say! You traded a piece of machinery for hay burners. I am in the process of reducing the number of horses I have. I found diesel fuel is cheaper to burn and maintain the pastures then letting horses do it. 
My wife loves the horses and she is happy with them, but I seem to do all the work.
At least your wife is happy! That may be well worth the trade. Does this mean you get to buy another tractor since she got the animals? Hopefully!?
