You might make sure they are matching belts. I have had problems arise thru the years when mowing deep leaves and a stick dislodge a belt. Also, if you have to replace the belts make sure and use the set part # as you can buy the two cheaper together than the one belt with the part # on the single.

Phil, by "front belt" you must mean the PTO drive belt. Is that right? If so, there are three adjustments: belt tension, PTO brake tension, and most importantly I think is the Belt Stay adjustment. The belt stay is just below the pulley and should be adjusted up 1 to 2 mm away from the belt so that it won't jump off the pulley. Your stay is probably loose or bent downward away from the belt so it can pop off the pulley.

My G1800 has one PTO belt that drives a shaft and the shaft drives the gearbox on the deck that drives the actual deck belt. The deck has just one belt. I'm assuming your deck is similar.

hi guys, firstly the belts are genuine kubota, with same part number etc,so i think thats not the issue, secondly, yes its the front 2 pto belts and the bottom plate is nearly touching the bottom of the belts, there is also 1 x 8mm bolts (about 100mm long) that seems to help keep belts in place, but the front of the 2 belts always jumps off the top pulley when we disengage the mowing deck, thx for the response so far, cheers phil

Phil, on closer examination, there are two PTO belts. Everything in my manual refers to a single belt until it describes how to remove them. My guess is that the front belt is worn unevenly to the rear belt so that they are no longer exactly the same. Perhaps you can set the PTO lever with the engine not running and check the belts to see if they flex the same amount or if one is tighter than the other. I have to do some scanning for my wife in the morning and I'll scan a few pages from the service manual for you.

Phil, make sure that engagement pulley is not flopping around on its axle and thowing the belt off-center. Also make sure your brake is working to stop the pulleys as you disengage. All that stuff is on the pages, but can be easily overlooked.
