So does it work much better with the gauge wheels?

I was out spreading a couple of loads of wood chips and trying to get them to level out and thinking of this thread the whole time.

I love your idea of using the recievers, I am going to unashamedly steal that, excellent thought.

I also noticed the trailer hitch on your box blade. Does that work well? Do you ever hit stuff with it?

Very nice project, I am going to have to do something similar shortly or I will loose my mind on getting this stuff level.

Thanks for taking the time to write it up!

Hi and thanks for the kind words, don't have any pictures of it in action but it works very well. Wish I hadn't put it off for so long.

The trailer hitch works great, its plugged into a 2" receiver as well so it can be taken out. I move the 18' car trailer around with it and pull the log splitter. Also have a 2 ton dump wagon/trailer thats had many many loads fo dirt pulled with it. The dump trailer has a pin hitch, so just remove the ball and use the hole.

And nope....never hit anything with it.

Here are some more pics.

Landscape rake modified to fit in the quick hitch. The 3pt pins had to be moved inward 3/4" to fit.

Here is a close up. The pins were originaly welded to 3/4" flat. The local steel shop only had 1/2" so I welded up two pieces ground it smooth then welded to the frame so it now a 1" piece.

My roll around work bench I built two weekends ago. Debating on putting doors on it and it still needs corner trim. I used for a little grinding on the gauge wheel stuff. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The start of adding a guage/tail wheel to the rear blade. This is the first hole I have ever cut with a torch. Before this my experiance was about an hour of cutting up scrape. Bought a Victor super range II.

Here it is welded up with a little support just in case I put the hitch on it to move the car trailer. The tail wheel would be probably be fine with out it.

May I ask where you got your wheels and what did they cost? Also, did they come with a tall shaft or did you have to weld that on?

The tires were from HF on sale at about $8 each. The forks were purchased from the Kubota dealer for under $50 for the pair.

The tires from HF came with a set of straight forks that can be bolted to something, no swivel. Normaly these are about $15 each if memory serves correctly. I've seen them at TSC as well but a little more money.

The Kubota forks are basicaly factory. I did have to spread the forks about a 1/4" or so with the porta power and drill the bolt hole a little bigger.
