Gambrel Roof Barn - metal sheet fix

Hi folks, Ive got a large bank barn with a Gambrel Roof, as usual its metal, i have 2 missing sheets that came off last month in a wind storm.

picture #2 in this post shows the heigt & size of the Barn - damage is on the upper section

no luck getting any local person to come and do it

its really high up, and my wife as forbidden me from going up

im not sure if Im game to give it a go or not, Id for sure need a harness and safety lines before id ever venture up there....any of you folks done this ? and how?

getting up and screwing them down is one thing, manouvering up there with sheets of metal is another

When I was young and dumb, all the time. Rope, harness and a friend. Good Tennis shoes, stickier the better, or if it was cloudy and cool I found better traction with bare feet. If it is just two of you, walkie talkies a must, but you probably want to have a group of friends, if for nothing else when it goes south it is a great group story.

If you have to be alone, maybe you want to have a snorkel delivered...

I'd second the snorkel/genie/boom lift idea. If there's *NO* wind, you could strap the metal to the cage and ride up their with it. If there is even the slightest breeze, I would pull the sheet up with a rope after you're in position. That is a lot of surface area and makes a great sail

I've uses a 55' genie to take OSB sheathing up to the second story of a house. Just make sure it's driving on solid ground. They get stuck in mud fairly easily.

Snorkel is a good idea, ill look into that

I watched bridge re-construction where they had ones that extended to 85' pointing almost straight up. The ariel platforms are really a good way to go...

Rent a lift if you can and are afraid of unshore footing
or
Rig up a chicken ladder so you can stand on it done it many times even in a immobilizer after knee surgery with my 10 year old son helping me.
my wife read me the riot / idiot act but I would probably do it again.

Chicken ladder? is that one of those that lays against the roof, hooks over the ridge etc.?
