Garage/Shop Design - Any Input?

I built a 30x40 4 years ago. I put the The door in the 30 ft. end and I am glad I did. I went with a 16 ft door and I am glad I did that as it gives me more storage on the sides of the building. I put plug ins every 8 ft (every post) and around my workbench area I put 2 groups of 4 on every post. Some say this is overkill but I never run out of plug ins. I do not have to run an extenoin cord across the shop either. I went with 12 lights 3 rows of 4 on 2 switches in the main part of the shop and I have no regrets for that. I put 2 flouresant 4 ft. each lights above my work bench.

Things I wished I would have done different are built it bigger. I looked at what I had and decided it would hold everything I had here at home. What I did not consider was what I may buy in the future. I now rent storage for my boat because it will not fit in the shop and with all the other things I bought it is full. I wish I would have went with a minumum of 14 ft side walls so I could have put in a 12 ft door, mine is 10 ft. side walls and a 8ft door. I was thinking that I would never bring home any farm tractors or need to get them in the door, wrong again. I had a tractor here awhile back and had to work on it outside in the dark. If I could do it all over again I would put a door near the back of the building on the 40 ft side so I could move things in and out a liitle easier.

I have a 22 x 76 Metal pole building with 5 12 x22 stalls and 1 16x22 stall .
I Have just enough room to park the 2 bx 1500s end to end in one of the stalls .
Sure would be nice if that space had a door in the back as well as the one in the front so I wouldn't have to move the tractor in front in order to get the one in back out.

I am in the process of building a 30wide x 50ft deep x10 tall pole building with metal sdiding and roof..

Since this is in a resdiential neighborhood and farily colse tot he house i wanted it to look look an additioanl living area..

We decided adding lots of windows would make this seem more of a living area instead of a barn with no windows..we bought 8 3'wx4'L windows. 2 in the rear, 3 on the right side, and 3 on the left side..It really makes the place look nice..At $80 for double pane glass at Lowes I feel it was well worth +$50 installed by my builder..

We opted for a second garage door in the back 10wide 8'tall..The front door is 16' wide..The reason for the second door provides ventaliation and not let people see whats inside my shop..In addition to the handiness of pulling in and out of the yard..

I will post pics of the windows tommorw to give you a better idea..

Also rough plumb the a toliet, sink, and shower before the concrete is poured along with the electric..

Waynescoating (spelling?) was only an additional $325 and worth the cost and adds some personality to the building.

As far as costs we had it contracted to be built including concrete and inuslation errected for $15,000.Unepectyed costs of $18 loads of dirt $1800,+$850 for windows+$500 for the extra garage door, have put us over budget..

Just remember you really only get one chance to build it, so do it the way you want becuase a remodel will cost you more in the long run.So build it the way you want it the first time.
