Great start there. What are you planting? I included a picture of my garden area, and a shot of my new tomato boxes.

And, I thought only Alabama had country bumpkins!

Well so far so good, we are in tornado and hail season so with 40-50 mph winds the last 2 days solid and small hail last night its all still alive I am cautiously optimistic. We are right in the middle of Kansas btw.

Nope were everywhere. [:)]
Nice boxes , I plan on a little bit of the common garden stuff, corn, tomatos, carrots, peas, peppers, cucumbers, ect. also going to try placing cattle or hog panels up for the cucumbers to grow up and onto, i have never tried that, just let them run about on the ground.

Hey magicheater tell us about your asparagus bed that's an interesting idea, are there tires all under the dirt going back to the start of the plumbing or how does that work? Oh nice garlic btw!

Nice garden pix. We should keep this going. Here is a picture of my favorite little patch of dirt. It is from the late season of 2009 as I have not put anything into the ground yet this year. I'm hoping to plant in a couple of days. Just for the record I had to take the picture as I was very happy to have grown ananas. I'm holding one of those. They grew under plastic tents. It tasted refreshing.

I notice you plant marigolds with your tomatoes. We have tried this with good success in the past as well. Didn't know if anyone else actually did this or not.

Just started planting ours yesterday. So far have peas, lettuce, radish, carrots, corn and pumpkin. Some as seeds and some from starts. We are also starting to move the strawberries from and area with poor soil into the new garden area. Our raspberries are next to the herb garden at the front of the house.

My wife is on a kick for growing giant stuff this year. She bought Atlantic Giant Pumpkin, a giant corn which is suppose to grow to 24ft with 18-24" ears, and some giant squash. She's currently looking at giant tomatoes.:confused2: None of this except the pumpkin has been planted yet.

I had some problems with tomatoes last year. They were growing great, had plenty of green tomatoes on them, and zap, they began to die. I read everything I could about possible problems. One article mentioned marigolds. I remembered from a few years back that I got planted several marigolds in a herb garden area near the main garden. I also remember having a great crop that year. Several marigolds came back the next year and I left them in the garden.

So, I am trying them again. In addition, I hauled in new topsoil, and put some milk cartons around the stems. The link below includes some more pictures of the top soil process

Wow some good pics and some more ideas of stuff to try. Looks as if I'll be replanting some of the garden, we got around 6-7 inches of rain here in the last week and my garden is not in best of locations.

Well here is a update a month later, the rain finally let up we were getting a bunch of rain each week for about four weeks, and was not good for the garden. It has really taken off in the last week and a half, replanted some corn watermelons, onions and carrots were a total lose from all the water.
