Anyone use the garden weasel to help loosen the ground to plant grass seed? Do you like it? I think this will be easier to use than a shovel. I have heard others say that it was a piece of junk, I want to find out how useful it is before buying one. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've had one of those for several years. It's one of those things that looks really impressive on TV but comes up short in real life. It may be OK if you have the kind of soil they use on those commercials. But if you have the common hard packed clay type soil, this thing is useless /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. However, if you shake it gently while holding it in the air, it does make a rather pleasant sound, almost like a wind chime /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. As a side note, I would also avoid the Weasels first cousin, Garden Claw /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

My in-laws gave me one of those things once. I thought how thoughtful it was of them! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Then I figured out after having tried using it WHY they gave it to me! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It works great if all you want to do is cut off weeds that are growing out of concrete! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

After trying to use it a few different times on the off chance that I wasn't using it properly (it's real complicated, don't you know! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif), I cut the handle off and put a small rake on the end of it to use to get in tight places around the bushes.

Handle worked GREAT! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

They're handier'n a pocket on pants if the dirt is soft and the weeds are puny.

If you don't have easy soil and miniweeds I'd think twice.

I think they'd be great for turning soil in flowerbeds but that's their limit in my book.

I'd put them in the category of products that appear to be a lot more than they really are.

As I'm watching the infomercials, I always say, if the product is really so good, how come it's not sold in any stores?

I have a first cousin who is a weasel, but that's a story for another day... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
