I went back to charcoal grill. No striker issue any longer. I learned to use the hand held torch from the gas service guy.

Generic replacement magnetos (if that is what they are?) are available where grilling accessories are sold...

BTW...they make good triggers for potato guns...:D

I've had my Weber Silver Seven grill for about 12 years. Have replaced the ignitor 4 times, grilling grates, lower grate, burners, and "flavorizer bars" once each. Each time I upgrade to stainless steel replacements which last much longer. The ignitor takes 10 minutes to change and costs a few bucks.

Kingsford suxs... Never again, I bought one and it never worked... right out of the package, no spark, NOTHING! I keep it around so I remember to never buy one again. Most of the other cheaper lighters have worked fine for me.

I tried buying a generic igniter and Found no way within my patience to install it. Been using the long tip lighters. ( Had reasonably good luck with them, Hardest part is finding it after the wife uses it to light a candle.) One thing I recently noticed was instead of trying to reach in and get near the burner, I can light all the burners using the flame carry over tube at the back of the grill.

I can think of 6 places I keep them, just off the top of my head. I got tired tracking one down every time I needed one, so now there is a dedicated 'spot' close to each place of need. :)
For gas grills, most of the time you can light them with just the spark from the long lighters. So if you have a comfortable one that runs out of butane, store it on/under the grill.

Bic lighters are what we use. Bought in four pack. The one in my shop lights a fire in Winter almost everyday....its been around for two years at least. One in the trailer for camping is used much less for campfire and starting the propane burners.......sits in a drawer most of the time......always works. Have never had a problem with these lighters.......when they run out of fuel.....toss them....buy a few more.....good for another 2 to 3 years.

I just pull a straw off of the broom and light the end and stick it down there. I never think to get a lighter and this works. Ed
