Has anyone got one of these in their shop? This is the type that is a 3 or 4 inch tube near the ceiling, with a reflector that focuses the infrared heat down to heat objects and the concrete floor.
The concept is great, but I don't know about the execution. I live in Minnesota.

Mike keep in mind that these heaters heat the concrete floor, then the heat radiates up from the floor. So if you're looking for quick heat a conventional space heater is most likely your best bet.

We have a Reznor natural gas unit heater hanging in our pole barn and it will bring the temperature to a cozy working environment within 15 minutes of turning it on.

Just something to consider if you go with a gas burning unit, and that is how you're going to vent it. With a room inside the structure, you will need to make sure the flue gases not only leave the room to be heated, but leave the interior of the structure as well.

I'd also suggest getting a gas detector alarm of some sort as well.
