They use less gas. There is no tank of water to keep at 110F or whatever it is set at. You only use gas when you need hot water.
Ya but increased cost, takes a time to pay back. Especially if you need to revent. They are direct vent, where as regular propane propably goes up a chimney. Though ambandoning the chimney has value.
For me, electrical panel is in living room at camp, so I I just turn it on when I walk in, same time turning pump on.
