Of course the economy of that 50 y/o diesel sucks compared to today's tractors but I can't think of a real comparison from today's tractors.
if compairing NA to NA and turbo to Turbo, both same condition engines, one older design.. I bet they consume fuel pretty darn closely.
Again.. same engine type.. IE.. liquid coolded vs air cooled.. na/turbo.. etc.. etc..
my 75 ford 5000 NA 256ci (70hp ) consumes go juice about the same as my 2000 NH 7610s turbo 304ci (~95hp) , when doing a task that uses 70hp or less... darn close. too close to call a difference almost..
