Yes... the only draw back is no electricity... no hot water

But it’s low amp draw. Easily powered with a small generator or battery reserve unlike a electric heater.

Of course...

But... when the Loma Prieta earthquake struck... power was out for almost a week... gas lines were ok and service never disrupted.

My home was all original 1922... gravity central heat, high leg gas stove... etc... all of my neighbors had no heat and were cooking in camp stoves...

I did just fine with no electricity... hot water, heat, cooking... were unaffected.

Something to be said about keeping things simple.

UPDATE - went down and its a Bradford White water heater with a honeywell ignition controller.. It was giving blinking light 3x then would repeat.. quick google says temp sensor needs adjusting..

Got a call into a repair place to take a look at it

I just have regular Bradford White and very pleased... it is the only Water Heater I buy for the properties I manage.
