Gasket gooop for a newbie

I usually shoot some copper high tack on paper gaskets. Cork, I agree with everyone else and glue it to the part that's removable. I also like to put chap stick on the sealing side on head side of the valve cover gaskets. They still seal up, but come off easily for valve lash adjustment or other service work later on.

On some VC gaskets I will glue the gasket to the cover with rtv, and grease the other side. Just holding back splash oil, no pressure.
