no this ain't a joke i think the best way to find a leak would be to run it til it's warm them throw some flower on the engine and let it set for a while then come back and look for a wet spot. one of them garden pesticide dust sprayers would work good too it would leave a fne coat of dust on it then when your done just blow the engine down with an air hose or bake at 350 degrees for 30 minites or until golden brown. the last part was a joke.lol

:DThrow some flower on and look for a wet spot....:D

hrrmmmmm.....

OMG, good idea, but I need to thank you more for the laugh!:p

Has anyone out there had any water consumption issues with their 620I's? I have an 08 with approx 75hrs on it that is using water and the dealer can't find any problems. Just curious if anyone else has had any issues like this.

It also has a problem with the throttle sticking that the dealer can't find the fix for either.

I am pretty sure they will be able to find the real problems now that it is out of warranty. But I would like to know if anyone else has had a similiar issue.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if you found your problem yet. I haven't had any XUV's using water but leaking it yes. It always seem to be loose clamps at the tubes that come through the firewall that the hoses clamp to. It is hard to spot the leak because of the pitch of the machine the coolant runs down in the frame box. Usually you can craw underneath and see a small wet spot around the end of ether hose. Just loosen the clamp and tighten it up again and usually this solve the problem. As mentioned earlier it is best to poressure test to fine a leak. The throttle cable sticking is a weird one. We've never had a reported cable problem yet. I'm not sure if it's intermitent or not. If it is it's probably not in the cable.

Yes, I found the problem with the water leak. It was a clamp on the thermostat housing. Too bad I had to find it and the dealer couldn't. I had to purchase a pressure tester to keep it pressurized so I could find it, but it is now fixed.

As for the throttle sticking, it is still doing that. It is in the computer system, not the cable itself. Mine is VERY noticable under load. I have driven a couple at different dealers and the new ones do it to some degree, but no where near as bad as mine. When you let off the throttle quickly under a heavy load, it doesn't return to idle. It will hang at about 1500rpm for a few seconds. Enough, that if you don't stand on the breaks, you will move an additional 3-4ft at times. I have spoken to the district rep about it, and he assures me that this is normal. I can't believe that John Deere is okay with this, as it could potentially become a lawsuit if anyone were to get hurt because of this. There is an aftermarket company working on a new clutch and computer for the XUV's. I will probably switch to that when they become available.

Could you post a picture of where yours was leaking please?

My cars do that, too. There may be an engineering justification for this, because all my older Toyatas have a device to "dampen" or delay the throttle from completely closing immediately when you let off the gas from a higher rev situation. On my older cars, this is a mechanical device. I don't know whether new, fly-by-wire systems electronically duplicate this to some degree.

i have never had my throttle hang......as soon as i let off the gas it goes right to idle.....no leaks or loss of coolant....130 hours of hard work....i'm not easy on stuff...

I have a 2006 620I Gator with 320hrs. Its starting to have trouble with fuel issues. Will idle fine but when warms up starts starving for fuel. Have replace fuel pump 3 time at $200 a pop also change the fuel filter. It will run fine for about a month then start doing it again. Is there anything else I should be looking for. Also is there a recall on the pump or is there a after market pump I can get that is cheaper then going to JD to get.
