Have been thinking of getting a 4x4 Gator in diesel for various applications. The main one would be for herbicide control of prickley pear. I saw the 25 gallon "Gator Bed Sprayer" on the JD website and it appears to be exactly what I want although I did not notice it had an agitator.

Just wondered if any of you fellas have used this sprayer?

Thanks for any comments you might have. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I use a 15 gal and a 25 gal (with boom) Fimco sprayer in my HPX Trail Gator. These work very well with the Gator. Only problem I have with the Fimco sprayers is the cheap motor/pumps.

If you will be using a boom sprayer you will need to look into rigging something for ground speed as the HPX does not have a speedometer option.

Forgot to mention. The 25 gal Fimco recirculates when the boom is not in use.

I too use the 25 gallon Fimco sprayer in the bed of my Gator TX. I purchased it from Agri Supply. I also use a rear spray boom modified to fit my Gator. I had this sprayer and boom on a Kawasaki ATV, but simply adapted it to the Gator TX when I purchased it. I've used the sprayer for about 3 years and have had no problems with the sprayer, the spray gun, or the boom...and might I add it receives fairly constant use. I'm not sure of the manufacturer of the bed sprayer for John Deere for use in the Gator, but it is probably one of the major sprayer suppliers--maybe even Fimco.

That's a good point about the speedometer. If I get the Gator I won't get the trail version--I assume the green one has the speedometer. One would think JD would not advertise a boom rig unless the carrier had the right equipment /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif?

Anyhow thanks DSB and Downtoearth for the recommendations.

The other thing I have to figure out is if solid tires w wheels are made for the gator or whether to foam the tires. I intend to drive through infested areas of prickley pear and the usual goop just not good enough. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

My understanding is a speedometer is not offered on any of the HPX models thru the 2005 edition. They are coming out with a newer design for 2006 that I am waiting for pricing and options on.

I am not familiar with prickley pear but I have a terrible problem with thorny honey locust. When I sold my 6x4 I had to have at least 3 dozen plugs in the tires. With the HPX, after I put the first plug in I figured I better try slime. Problem solved. Now I just run around and Gatordone.

I have a Ranger with a 15 gal tank sprayer. I build my own boom using boomless nozzles. This way I do not have anything sticking out past the edge of the Ranger. I used it to site-prep spray for planting trees. I use a GPS for speed. I would not think the speedometer in any UTV would br that accurate. I am in the proces of rebuilding my sprayer to use a round tank with a narrow bottom. I had problems in some areas with having spray left in the tank but because of the slope of the ground I had to run over the sprayer pickup was out of the liquid.
