Gauge to inches; Which is right??

I'm with you on that. Canada has been "going metric" nearly as long as I can remember, a few decades now but, we won't really be metric until the US of A goes metric. So much stuff on vehicles is mixed that I'm never really sure if I should grab the metric wrenches or the inch ones.

Vehicles have been all metric for about as long as I can remember now (not as long as some of you, I realize...). I think the big switchover was the 80's when they were mixed and drove people insane. The only thing I suspect remained SAE at all for a while was brake line fittings, for some reason. But I think that is changed now too. In some of my socket selections, I only have metric in certain things (like 1/2" deep well impact) as I don't need SAE for anything on cars and never use impact on much of anything else.

Well the gauge thing has always been a confusion to me, but I just look at the metal and pick what I want, then they tell me what I bought. My projects are not that fussy, but to add to this confusion the square tubing I picked up for my gate was 100 wall. Is that a metric calc or something totally different? Not trying to hyjack just hopefully adding to the confusion

everything i buy in bc is inches. i bet that would be .100 inches, then again where did you buy it?

box stores might be importing that sort of stuff from who knows where.

.100 meters would be a decimeter 3.9 inches.
1/8" is 3.2 millimeters
