gauge wheels on a box blade

I suspect your best (better) application will be for final grading.
However, you might find yourself using it for semi-finishing too, requiring some adjustment? I like to keep things as simple as possible too, BUT in wanting to use my gauge wheels for several applications, I had to add a few features to allow it. So I went with cylinders not only for adjustment, but also to do it from the tractor seat. You'll have to decide just how much feature you really want, which of course, will lead to a few extra goodies to do.

Mine are QA and can be used on different implements via a QA base mount.
Having the hydraulic feature to raise and lower substantially, allows me infinite (almost) adjustment within the 10" inch range. I know you read my thread about them, and you probably saw how much the can be adjusted. In fact, I can lift them up, out of the way high enough to even do backblade work with them on.

Thanks again Rob,
One long cylinder and perhaps a bell crank would do it.
I could push down on the WDH spring bar and lift the wheels off the ground, they're very light.
Something as crude as a bungie cord would stop them from flopping off to one side.
I could then push dirt back, though probably not "to a wall".

More thunkin' will be done.

I NEEDED a motorcycle ride today.
BAD head cold, had to blow out the sinuses (my excuse and I'm stickin' to it).

Keep at it Reg, I'm sure you will come up with something clever!
I'm jealous of your bike ride. I just gave my ride(s) away...dang.

Hmmmm, not quite sure about someone who "gives away" 2 wheel motor vehicles.
(-:
Hopefully to a deserving recipient ?

I suppose I should clean most of mine up and pass them on before I get too old to ride at speeds twice my age.
I think my father advised me to not ride at speeds 5 times my age, but that was over 50 years ago (-:

Anyway, I think a cylinder is likely for this project and I do have 4 remote pairs on the back of the tractor anyway.
So it is down to designing the "mechanism" itself, it will almost certainly be on the wheels so I don't have to do it for each and every attachment.

Here's a CAD question for those that use it.
How do you connect arms, linkages, whatever with flexible joints and move them through their range of motion ?
Right now a simple example of how to represent a crankshaft, connecting rod and piston would be NICE !
An example of how to do it with more than one piston moving in more than one direction would be even nicer, say a V-6.
This is probably CAD_esign, not just CAD_rawing, right now I'm messing with a trial version of CADopia (30 days).

Here's my guess...

Who "gives away" a 2 wheel motor vehicle? -- 3 letter word, starts and ends with "D".

Deserving recipients? How about 4 letter word starts with a "K" and ends with "s".

Not wanting to deviate from the thread, but John wins the prize !!
See Ya Later Bikes
I will sorely miss them for sure, but they're being ridden everyday again.:)
And yes, I too see a cylinder in your fabrication efforts. It's pretty easy and a perfect fit.
