Gauges for 1602D

Would like to add temp and oil pressure gauges to my tractor. I'm not sure of where they would attach to the engine. Any help would be appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You will just replace the senders that control your lights with the senders for the gauges. One on the water pump bracket and one near the oil filter. Most gauge manufacturers have an adaptor kit that will screw into the temp sender spot. The oil pressure should take the standard 1/8 pipe I think. Gauges are definitely the way to go.

I used 1.5 inch Sunpro gauges and their metric adapter kit for my 1500D. I drilled holes in the dash for the gauges.
The oil pressure gauge went right in with the adapter kit. I ended up buying a tap for the largest water temp adapter and tapping the 15mm hole in the block for the temp sending unit to match the adapter. After tapping, I sealed the threads with teflon tape and I have had zero trouble....but I LOVE having the gauges...I never trusted the idiot lights...
Oh yeah, at Autozone the gauges were on sale, I think I paid 29 bucks plus the cost of the tap and the adapter kit...maybe 45 bucks in all, and it took a total of an hour or so to do

That first was the oil sender with "T" fitting to allow continued use of the warning/idiot light for back-up safety.

This is the gauges in the dash.

I don't have one of the temp gauge but can send it if needed. The temp was the easiest..it just screwed in with a metric adapter (avail from SUnpro).

Wow- Nice paint! How'd you get that all put together before the paint dried /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I really like the way those gauges look in there. .

I noticed you've got the white powdery looking surface on your steering wheel. Someone once told me that all you have to do is take a propane torch to the steering wheel plastic. Test first, but just enough heat to start melting the surface gets rid of the white and any roughness. Makes it look like new.

THANKS!!! the wheel is the one "old" looking part...never thought of that torch idea. Seems good enough for me to CAREFULLY try it!

The paint job came out well after a lot of help from people on this forum. The worst part of the paint is actually the dash. I couldn't remove it and paint it well since I couldn't loosen the nut on top of the steering wheel. I ended up getting some sags and a little orange peel...but I am happy overall. Most importantly my WIFE is happy. She usually drives it for the mowing. ANd thanks for the filters/some parts/repair manual I bought from you!
