GC 1700 mowing RPM

It doesn't hinge into a full up 90-degree position, so removal is better, but then you need to be sure that nobody is in the vicinity while mowing. Just 4 simple nut/washer combos and it comes right off.

I noticed that. I have to keep mother happy, and seeing me remove it would probably make her blood boil. Using a bungee or something similar would be the safest bet for all involved... LOL

Just a little update. I went through my whole mower and adjusted all the linkage to make sure the deck was level and I got at least a quarter inch to 1/2 inch of raise in the rear of the deck basically repeating the same operations I do on my commercial Toro. This allows a pretty level discharge. Rpm in the green marks on the gc1715 and it seemed work amazingly well.

Yesterday I mowed probably 8" in overgrown grass that's been growing since I've been on vacation a few weeks. Wow these units are amazing even at that grass height it had a great quality cut. I also removed the discharge shoot. Works better for me.

Removed my chute to get it on the trailer when I picked it up. Haven’t put it back on. I did the bungee cord with the old machine for a while before finally removing it.

...Plus 1 on removing the guard ("flapper-damper").

I致e been running around 2,000 to 2,500, figuring the MM PTO is labeled 2,000 RPM on the lever.
In order to achieve 2000 RPM at the mid PTO and 540 RPM at the rear PTO the engine speed must be run at 2600 RPM with a gc1705 or 3000 RPM with the 25 horsepower models. Spinning the engine slower than that will reduce horsepower to the implement as well as rotational speed and could damage the machine.

Took the chute off on my 60” deck to put it on the trailer easier, used bungee on my Cub Cadet but anyway I mowed 5 acres for my 1st time Thursday with my new 1705 and I ran the rpms right in the middle of the green on the tack and it did just fine. It is at my other property or else I would go out and see what rpm that is, just above 2000 I think.

Jim.

How do you figure it would damage the machine?

On the tach gauge on the 1705, you with see a green area, when running pto equipment I always set the throttle within that area..

on edit: I see we are talking about a 1715, I don't know what the tach is like on it..

Ok so when mowing I have my throttle set in the middle of the green and when using the FEL or blade I run at the top of green.
