Safety police - please go easy on me. Here is how I angled my roll bar so I can fit through my garage door. Also - I installed o-rings behind the 2 shoulder bolts / hinge bolts which are the pivot for the ROPS..... They rattled...

Cool idea but whats the big deal off taking off the bolts and lowering the rops down and the reinstalling them? Your only in and out of your garage once when u leave and once when u enter.

It's not that hard to take me off now.

Because there will be a day when the phone rings or i get distracted and forget to lower it and drive through the roof. Or someone else will jump on and do it for me haha.

The main problem I see is that those links are only going to handle a load in tension. Compression or side force will likely buckle them. Whether that hurts the effectiveness of the ROPS is the real question.

I agree . . . It seems the photo shows the integrity of the original design is substantially weakened when pressure comes from various directions. In effect this becomes your rops . . Not MF's engineered design. As a result if you are injured in a roll over . . you would have no claim against MF. It also might influence your own insurance carrier on injury issues. Lastly, I'm guessing your dealer would want a liability waiver signed by you . . if they see it . . As the owner of the dealership doesn't want to lose his house from your modification.

I'm not sayinf you can't do it . . Its just important to understand that there are consequences to it . . Modifying a government mandated safety device is much different than not wearing a seat belt.

I see no problem with modifying ROPS as long as it's done well. It is always at your own risk. Suggest OP improves his design.

Agree with others that the link is a weak point in compression (flipping over backwards) or from lateral forces in a side roll. At a minimum I'd add a second link to the other side of the tab. However I'd rather see square tubing of the same thickness. Tubing will better handle forces from all directions. However, just angling the upper ROPS will change forces on the lower ROPS. Without re-engineering the entire ROPS, there will always be risks to simple changes that impact the rest of the system.

My ROPS are cut, lowered and angled. But it was done as part of a larger system that far exceeds the function of the original ROPS for any senario I can think of.
