GC 1725 50 Hour Service - $600!

As stated, do your own. It's not complicated. And, you have control of what products are used.

You actually don't want the dealer doing your 50 hour service. Because, the same kid who missed a bunch of stuff, when he prepped your tractor, just missed it all again when he did your 50.

A person with a vested interest in the process, will always be more willing to take the time to check everything thoroughly. It takes time to check every inch of hose for rubs, and chafing. I'm willing to bet you, it wasn't done.

Everyone is here if you have questions on how to do your own maintenance in the future.

Amen, you tell it very good, but I will add just one thing, "follow your owners manual", MF makes it so easy a caveman could do it using all the pictures and simple text...

Think $600 is a little excessive , my 50 hour was $450, ...

Parts $147.33
Labor $268.00
Shop Supplies $22.15 (???)

Sub Total $437.70

State Sales Tax @7.25% $12.30

County Tax 0.05% $0.85

Total $450.85...

But yeah its high also....

Another advantage to DIY 50 hour service is that you can apply some of your savings to some high dollar tractor hydraulic fluid and still be way ahead. I am convinced that the hydraulic system and fluid takes a beating when we are running devices like snowblowers and chippers. Tractor hydraulic fluid from companies like Schaeffers, Amsoil, Lubrication Engineers, etc., is a good investment for machines that are run hard. I know some of you do not agree but that is my opinion.

My Kioti 50 hr was $450 (+tax on part of it) for $475 total. I had a deal with the salesman to get it free but he passed away in the 5 months between deal and service, and I didn稚 ask nor confirm... so I was not ready to pay anything. Never got it in writing though so I had no choice by the time I went to pick it up.

Still, $475 to have a pro do it and also be sure nothing else was wrong (this is my first ever tractor, and although I can do minor service on cars, etc a tractor is a different beast) is cheap insurance on a $22k specialized piece of equipment that I intend to keep for 20-30 years, especially when parts alone would have cost me $200 or so. And as others have mentioned, now it may be 3-4 years before I hit my 400 hour service requirement and next see the dealer.
