I had the right hand front tire replaced 3 weeks ago due to it seperating now today I had to replace the left side front tire it did the same thing. The guy at the tire shop told me that I must be using my tractor to hard and carring to much weight in the front. When I bought my tractor used 3 yrs ago the front tires were brand new so what Ia'm wondering is are any others out there having to have to replace there front tires.Mine are turf tires carlise tru trac 18 x 8.50 x 10" I have been using the loader quite a bit this fall and wondering if the tires aren't going to stand up to loader work.Larry

I think you answered your own question. You have turf tires and not industrial tires made for continuous loading. Research the weight limits of your tires. A FEL while lifting extended increases leverage pressure on those front tires. You may need to upgrade to a higher ply tire. The tires that came with it was probably for occasional FEL use. Also the FEL could be possibly outperforming the rating of your tires. In other words your pushing it beyond it's rated limits. Your tire guy is probably right.

There are lots of factors that could be involved in tire failure.

Total hours?

Is the tractor stored where sunlight hits the tires?

Have you been careful to maintain the full air pressure?

Do you use the 4wd full time, or perhaps often when using the FEL?

I guess you could beat the life out of them, by running with a lot of weight hard and fast, over rough ground.

My tires are the original 2005 turfs, and they have no obvious sign of wear.

No problems with mine, moved and graded 12, fourteen yard truckloads of sand and 3 eighteen yard truckloads of gravel all while in 4x4.

Tractor is always stored indoors [except while its being used] so weather factors shouldn't have affected them. There only a 4 ply tire so thats more then likely why they've failed. 1900+ hrs on the meter but not the tires probably around 700 hrs. The tractor is used mostly 90 % for mowing grass and blowing snow in the winter.Be hard pressed to say that the loader is used 10 % of the time. Guess next time I'll have to upgrade the tires to something different or also been thinking of upgrading to a GC 2600 seeing prices are pretty good right now.Larry

Wow-I think 700 plus hours is pretty dang good for turf tires?

My dad has a Honda TLB, he can go through a set of fronts in probably half that time. This is mostly because he leaves it in 4wd all the time. But, partially because he won't put air in them, unless their flat. :D

No doubt heavier tires are not going to hurt you.

BS. I have turf tires and I use my loader year around. For awhile there were kubota subcompact tractors with tires in front leaking all the time until a tube wass put in or replaced with a different variety with no problems. I really dont think it matters which tires you use, but granted the R4's are stiffer but turfs works just as well with loader work. For anyone trying to tell me otherwise - good luck!

Your right. It doesn't matter what tire you use. Under rated tires just won't last as long. Maypops will work, but not for long.

Larry, why are you thinking of going to a 2600? If all you are after is more HP it is a easy fix to up the power.

GC 2310 with 3100 RPM Redline
Plus I hate the pedels on the 2600 for loader work.
