Here are some wheel weights I made for my MF GC 2410. Nice heavy chunks of steel, some Grade 6 bolts, a little bit of help from my Uncle stick welding them up, some primer and paint, and there you have it. 74 pound (each) wheel weights. I had to bend the bolts inward slightly (as seen in the pictures), but other than that, they bolt right on to the wheels.

Neat-- when I saw your other post, I started looking for this one.... I could use this idea on my fronts; the BH weight on the rear seems plenty on that end, but the front gets a bit light going uphill when blowing snow.

I take it you used the square holes in the wheels to mount these things.... Has anyone figured out a way to do something similar to the fronts (which have no extra holes:()?

Drill + Drill Bit = Holes :D

It is.

I don't see how your going to get enough weight in such a small area, to make any difference. There is a weight bar on the front of my 2310, If you have one, it would be a lot easier to just hang the weight from there.

Not by mounting on the wheels except as mentioned by drilling holes. But you could weld a small pipe bumper and fill it with melted lead. It wouldn't have to be very large to obtain enough weight. I know one guy that filled his with BBs.:)

Here is the way I made my wheel weights several years and two tractors ago.

But as the others above, they also have to have bolts in the wheels.

I was thinking hat the fronts didn't have quite enough clearance behind the center wheel disc, but it does look like there's the better part of an inch between the outside of the axle mounting flange and the inside of the wheel rim, so a drill isn't out of the question.... I see a possible project in the making.

The front "bumper" would be the logical choice, but the front mount quick-hitch business for the snowblower effectively prevents that option: that's where IT hangs. (Hmmmm... maybe add weight to the quick-hitch frame?:rolleyes:)

Oh, well. Time to get back to preparing for winter; garden's ready, leaves gone, grass cut, mower stored, boat put away, most motorcycles put up, snow tires mounted, vehicles inspected & serviced.... just a few projects left. Prob'ly get everything done about a week after the first snowstorm.:D

That gives me an idea;
if you had a front brush guard, you could add pipes with lead or shot ,vertically inside or out side the verticles on the brush guard. Could even do it without any welding by drilling the pipe the guard and useing long threaded nipples with caps, just fill with steel or lead shot , or even sand.

I don't see that being nearly enough. Your going to need several hundred pounds to make a difference.

I like the pictures of the receiver hitch mounts on the bucket in your link, pretty cool idea.

Don't forget about the idea about pouring concrete in a form and installing bolts or hooks in it for front end weights or wheel weights. Maybe not as heavy as pure steel, but cheap weight. Back it with plywood or? and still could be painted pretty.
