I've been looking at the GC1710 or 1720 and was concerned about where to keep it. If you put the ROPS down, does anyone know what the clearance is while it's on a trailer (looking at "typical" 16ft trailer that would come in a package deal)? I'm wondering if it would fit in the garage or if it would be too tall. I have about 80" max height restriction. Thanks.

Hard question to answer. It would depend on the trailer. I think average height of the trailer deck is around 18" or for a landscape type trailer. With the rops down I think the backhoe boom would be the highest point if you had it stowed with the pins in place. I can do some quick measurements on my 1710.

are you saying you want to store the tractor on the trailer in your garage? i would say zski is right -- it depends on what trailer you buy and the bh boom will be the highest point on the tractor with the rops down. perhaps a visit to the dealer as you buy would be in order to check it out?

Thanks for the responses! Yeah, I'm wanting to leave the tractor on the trailer and store in the garage. that way I can fit that and another car in the garage. I asked the dealer that question and he said the trailer was about 18" and with the ROPS down the tractor was about five to five and a half feet, but that it would fit. Well 5.5' + 18" = more than 80 and there were a lot of "abouts" in that comment. I didn't really have a great feeling after talking with him so I'd like to try and find out for sure without having to go back just to measure myself. I like the Massey, but it kind of made me want to go look at the BX25. I found a post where someone showed that one measure 61" with the ROPS down, but you'd have to lower the boom. I figured if the trailer is long enough I could let the backhoe down a little, is that easier said than done?

Does not seem to practical to me, having to pull out the trailer with your truck and unload the tractor each time you need it. To me that would not work at all.
Unless you don't intend to use it that much !
Looks like a garage extension is in your future.

Sorry, I should clarify. We're in a rental now which is about 10-15 minutes away from our land (10acres). I want the tractor to help us thin out the woods a little more and to maintain the acre we've already cleared. Also hoping to build a house soon and will use it for helping with that as well. I don't want to leave it at the land since it would likely be stolen so I'd like to leave it in our garage. However I'd also like my wife to be able to put her car in there. So that would mean storing the tractor on the trailer in the garage. But if it wont fit due to the door height, then I'll either need to store the tractor next to the trailer in which case my wife wont be able to fit her car or find some other place to put it. Or hold off all together and buy it later.

Is there room to store the tractor and car in the garage and the trailer outside? Using the tractor you could easily tuck the trailer into some tight, out of the way places.

Unfortunately we have no side yard and the driveway doesn't have space for a trailer and my car. I could keep my trailer at a friends house but he doesn't live in the safest area so i'd have to worry about theft. Although it'd be in a fenced yard and he has a huge dog so that might not be a bad route. It'd just be a pain i guess.

Well you're in luck. I have to load the massey tonight on my trailer to take it up to the cabin this weekend. I will try and remember to get a measurement. I also have the ROPS down on it's brackets I made so I can fit it in my small shop. Should give you the measurements you need.
