Good afternoon everyone. Yesterday I was doing some work with my BH, I ended up running out of daylight. When I switched the seat around and went to drive the tractor back to the house my dashboard back lights wouldn't come on. The headlights, turn signals, glow plug lights all work, but no back lighting for the dashboard. Today, I checked my user manual which shows there should be a 10A fuse in fuse panel location 8 for dash lights. I go out to the tractor to check the fuse, there isn't one in that spot....I"ve got 80 hours on "Big Red" and never had any problems with the dash lights. Am I crazy? Is the manual wrong? Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps one of my neighbors is jealous because of my awesome little tractor and is trying to make think that it has electrical gremlins!

My tractor is a late model 2017 GC1710. The fuse panel cover was securely in place, and the dash board lights were working fine as of last week. I have checked all the fuses, they are fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try putting a fuse in that space? If that works, maybe it just wasn't in all the way and vibrated out. Worth a shot to do.

Try wiggling the round electrical plugs that connect to the back of the dashboard. Seems to me that there have been a few GC series tractors with dashboard electrical problems. Mine has a fuel gauge that only works when it feels like it.

Umm.... Fuse 8 is also "engine starting system".... I find it odd you can start tractor but no dash lights with missing fuse....

I know, I don't understand it either.

I did try another fuse. No bueno. Fuse 8 is also used for "engine starting" which I don't have any issues with.

Bummer about your fuel gauge Langanobob. All my gauges work thankfully. I did try wiggling both round electrical connections. I also checked all the bulbs which are good.

Not sure how to count fuses.... Book shows one sketch of fuse panel, my CG 1715 seems to count different... Might be manufacturing change between years....

Also not sure if fuse could wiggle out as they are in rather firm and then there is the cover....

Also with **my** fuse #8 out, tractor will not start...

Oddly enough in wiring diagram (item #27) numbers are consistent with my fuse panel...

And the 40A, SLO-BLO fuses numbered 11, 12 in manual seem to be on separate 2 position fuse panel... Would almost seem to make them 13 & 14 (which does not exist in manual)......

they need a good ground too, check that, also, if the power to those lights go through the ignition switch, that could be a cause too..
