GC1723EB Rpm's

Not complaining but I noticed the RPMs on my new 23 is around 1850 to 2900 I thought the 23's are governor at 2600?

I'm probably closer to 25 horsepower with this one then.

What's everybody else seeing with their 1723??

Yep, I'm not sure they all do it, but my 1723 revs to just under 3000 rpm

Yup same here, I am thinking about lowering my idle RPMs it idles a good 1500!! I'd like to get it down to around maybe 9 to 950

I would consult with a diesel mechanic before reducing idle RPM below 1000. Oil pressure may suffer at low RPM when hot. There are other considerations as well for these small displacement diesel engines. For example, my motorhome diesel generator never sees RPM below 1800. It is powered by a 3 cylinder Kubota motor.

Being a brand new tractor I would hope oil pressure is adequate on it, lowing the idle by 400 RPMs I can't see affecting it that much.

1500 RPM idle does sound a bit excessive. What is the idle RPM specification?

My 1723 is about the same. I was thinking the tachometer could be off. I haven't tested it yet though.

The sweet spot for power is at about 2500-2600 rpm on my tach. Anything above that is more power but seems to have little gains.
