GC2300 - Got Float?

   / GC2300 - Got Float? #21
Thanks for the tip Jerry. Just out of curiosity I called the dealer and they only sell the whole "cup" assembly, not just the spring. I stretched out what was left of the original spring and it seems to be holding up fine. I will take the remainder to the hardware store to find a close-enough-for-me replacement. Just glad it is all figured out finally! Now it is onto fabricating a guard for the hydraulic filter......much more fun than buying one!!!

So I read through everything, but still didn't figure out what "float" is. I have a 06 1533 w/ a 1525 FEL. I've done a lot of FEL work. If "float" keeps the bucket locked into a position with the bucket on the ground, that would be VERY helpful. When I drag my bucket backwards, it just goes "flacid" and bounces across the top of the ground worthlessly...

Float basically disconnects the hydraulics from the lift cylinders. The bucket will just drop under it's own weight. Your last sentence describes what float does. It is useful for backdragging where you want to smooth some material, but not dig it up, or when plowing snow where you don't want to dig up the driveway. The "locked" behavior that you want is the normal way a loader works when float isn't engaged. In order to engage float you push your joystick all the way forward, past a detent. It should stay there. It sounds like you're doing that all the time. You should be able to feel that detent and not push past it when you want the bucket to stay where you put it, or provide downpressure. Its possible that there could be a problem with your detent.

anyone know where to find a schematic of the detent assembly for a Kubota FEL valve ?
