GC2300 - How To Determine Year Model

If you bought it in 2005 and it was new, it was a 2005 as far a paper work is concerned. If something was changed in November 2005 it would have been new for 2005 even though it was almost at the end of the year. Maybe we are missing something that was said at the dealers.

It is a new, unused, tractor which I have yet to confirm was produced prior to the year 2005, but I am working on it.

Now, I don't have a problem understanding what you are saying about a tractor year being the year that it is sold,
but I'm not buying it and I don't think the court will either.

If MF advertises that changes were made for the 2005 CG2300, then apparently they do date their equipment.

What the dealer says is a 2005 year model simply because they received it in 02/05, and what MF says is a 2005 year model is conflicting.

When I called MF on 11/28/05 in an attempt to verify the exact year that it was made, the person that I spoke to advised me that they didn't give that information out and referred me back to the dealer, so I requested the dealer
to do so. If the dealer is a honorable person, they will make things right. If not, they will be receiving a Demand Letter.

Whatever the case, I have documentation from them stating that it is a 2005 year model and I believe that's good enough to satisfy my burden of proof.

Just out of curiosity, what did you pay for your tractor? If you do not mind sharing.

Also to Loulblades, you said "I also noticed a recent delivery of 2300s at my dealer where the front was more like the larger MFs (flattened front end)". What did you mean by that? The sheet metal and styling have not changed on the GC2300.

I don't know about a new flattened front end, but I have noticed the "Massey Ferguson" logo across the side of the hood has been updated recently to match new 1500 series.

The larger MF tractors have a more "flattened" front end than the 2300, which has a rounded more "stylish" look. But recently when I was at the dealer he had a truck load of 2300s (at least I am pretty sure they were 2300s, I will be going there later this week and will confirm). that had the more traditional looking MF front look. At the time I just figured it was because the 2300 has become such a big seller (at least that is what my dealer says) that MF wanted it to look more like their other tractors.

I just checked the MF site and the pictures show the more rounded front (not that MF does a good job on keeping their site up to date). As I said, I will confirm that those were 2300s when I go to the dealer to get my snowblower.

Although I didn't pay that much attention to the exact details
of decals or curves and so forth, about the only thing that I immediately noticed different on the 2005 year model was the addition of a tachometer, cruise control, the relocation of the exhaust, and the warning lights are now higher on the roll bar.

Although I have't paid anything at this time, with the MF rebate, which was instant, the tractor sold for $7,999.00.
And then of course I got a tiller and a FEL which brought my total to $12,120.82, excluding administrative and filing fees. They didn't charge anything extra for the AG tires, they just swapped them out. Now, I don't know what the actual going price for a GC2300 is because I have seen where people have stated that have paid as much as $15,000. I am in the Houston area and there could be as many as 100 or more dealers that sell all brands of tractors and they all are fighting for your business. Other than the above price the tractor was sold to me for, one dealer quoted me a price of $8500 for a 2005 MFGC2300.

While compared to some, I may not have what is considered a large investment, but even if it's only a dollar, it's mine and I want to get the most for it.

You got a great price. In fact, I have not seen one sell for below $8000.

Do you have any idea what the average going price for a 2005 year model 2300 is?

Yesterday I went to the dealership that sold me the one I have to find out if they contacted MF to ascertain the year model and was told that they were waiting for MF to get back in touch with them.

So, this morning I contacted a different dealer who contacted MF and immediately found out that the 2300 I have is a 2004 year model. I have a feeling that they know I am onto them
and when they receive my Demand Letter, I'm sure they will know. Of course I'm not wanting money or anything like that, I'm just wanting what they told me they were selling me and that's a 2005 GC2300.

Anyone interested in a 2004 2300 with 15 hours on it?
I'm sure they can make you a good deal. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
