2007/w 290 hrs has anyone else had this problem. Bought this tractor in june from off the net unseen.I live in Canada and bought this from in illinois over the net.Had it hauled to Winnipeg Man. and picked it up from there.First time I used it the reverse didn't seem to work to good, very slow and sluggish. The more I used it the more problems happened.I had to shut the tractor off in order to get it to stop moving.Of course first checked linkages and self centering linkage. The foot pedal at times was stuck, had to wiggle it to get it to release. Finally after many frustrating problems with it,took it apart and sure enough one of the bushing in the parts manual # 16 with part #4267498m1 was broken in half. That was on july 18 ordered parts on july 20 all parts came in except the bushing which according to massey is on back order untill aug 27 so hoping to get it by then.Even tried jacks and they haven't been able to get this part either. My massey dealer is approx,60 miles from me and have been very good in trying to get things done quicker. They even called the factory in Japan to find out that they don't have that bushing in stock either so hopefully things will work out like what I've been told otherwise this tractors going to be apart for longer then I'd like.Just wondering if anyone has had this problem.Oh yeah even contacted agco [massey] to see if they could help, there answer was to get my dealer to call me and explain why this part was taking so long.

I could not find what bushing you are taking about. I'm guessing it is in the pedal controls so it is not a hydrostatic failure but a control problem. Is it just a standard bushing you can get from a hardware store or can it be made on a lathe by a local machinist?

If its just a bushing, id head to the machine shop, like doug.

Good luck

in the parts book its on page 198-199 # 16 in the picture with part # 4267498m1 it looks like a half moon and the swash plate swings back and forth on this bushing or cradle bearing what ever you want to call it.It is actually right inside the hydro unit.

this part is right inside the hydrostatic unit and when it broke in half it ended up scoring one of the valve plates as well to the point where it can't be fixed by lapping so had to order that and it came within 2 days

If you have the broken part and the mating part a good shop could remake the part. It still looks like a turn part then cut and machined. One turned part should easily make 2 of these bushings. It will probably be more money then to wait for the part from JPN but it can be done.

I agree that parts can be made as I've modified and made many.I have a 33 year old massey 1655 with loader, mmm, rear tiller, snowblower, push blade, tandem disc, cultivator, stump grinder, power steering off a 1977 chev van,Honda 20hp v twin. As you can see many parts have been made to have stuff all working with this tractor.Any way kinda off track here as my big beef with agco [massey] is that a 33 year old tractor needs parts made for but a 3 yr old tractor, thats just not right,as far as I'am concerned parts for a unit this new should be readily avaliable.I'am sure they still build even the new 2400's with the same hydro unit so why aren't parts easier to come by.
Larry.

Is MF not trying to get these parts? Parts do come up short from time to time and do have a lead time. I have not heard of this being a problem in the hydro. Plus you bought the tractor sight unseen and you have no history of what the former owner could have done to the tractor(wrong fluid , no fluid change or hole in the filter and run the unit dry just a few things that can happen).

I know that buying stuff without its history can be risky, but you always hope its been taken care of.I know that my massey dealer has been trying to get this part sooner as they've even called me back a couple of times so they are trying. Guess I'll just have to sit and wait things out as MF gave me a date of Aug 27 so I'am hoping.Guess what the problem is that I'd like to be using this 07 to cut grass with instead of the 1976 ,1655.You know how it is you get a new tractor you'd like to be using it rather then having to be looking at it sitting apart in the shop. We've had lots of rain here all summer so the grass is growing steady hasn't slowed down yet so it would be nice to be using the newer tractor to cut with. As always Larry.

August 27th and its no surprise today when I called to find out if the parts came in yet and was told that now the expected date has been changed to Sept.3 so still hoping that they'll be in next week so that I can put it back together and hopefully get a bit of use out of it cutting grass.Pretty disappointing waiting for parts from ???? as always Larry
