I have a leak on the Nimco FEL control valve below the joystick. Is there a gasket attaching the silver box at the base of the joystick (to the black casing)? And is it easy to replace? Might it be an o-ring on one of the connectors that’s an issue? I see no leaks around the attached hydraulic hoses.

I suspect there are O-rings around the spools under that silver cover. Possible they are in a counterbore and held in place by that cover.

Just a side note here. Does the valve have six lines or seven? If it has six, replacing O rings will only be a short lived fix. They will start leaking again at some point.

Looks like its leaking from the spool. The oil dripping is an issue for your footware. It will destroy the bonding between rubber/leather.

The plate has no gasket. It holds in an O ring at the end of the valve spool. There are 4 O rings total, 2 on top, 2 on the bottom. I got mine off ebay.

O ring size 13.3 x 2.4mm

*Remove the loader before attempting any repair!*

Thanks. Would these be the right ones? 15pcs Black NBR70 O-Ring Washer Sealing Gasket 13.3 x 2.4mmâ¦KD | eBay ? Is the install relatively easy? Why would the loader need to be removed?

With only six lines you will be doing this again. Better order some extras to have on hand.

Am looking at a 15 pack, if they are any good. See my reply to DMW.

Good plan. That should hold you for a while.

They will work. I used Viton®/FKM O-ring 13.3 x 2.4mm 5 years ago, no issues. They were 10x the cost but have worked. Ordered a set of the cheaper o rings (like your pic) at the same time just in case, but never had to use them. The first time I did the repair used one of those multi-size 100pc o ring kits, didn't last a day before they blew.

Yes. Metric hex keys, drift punch to remove roll pins in control handle assembly. Remove loader for safety and improved access to valve. Clean off valve before removing anything, keep everything clean. Take pictures, helps a lot. No harder than replacing a water faucet. They are the only owner serviceable seals on the valve.
While your doing that remove the cover off the float spool and check for corrosion. The bottom covers also have an o ring under them to seal the bottom of the spool.
Replace the color coded zip ties on the valve/loader hoses before removing. The should all have lost their color by now.
Have you had to replace the control handle yet? It is quite common for it to snap at the threaded connection.

Color is still good on the zip ties. Tractor was kept indoors when not in use. No issue with the control handle to date. Only other issues in the past were separation of the muffler under the hood and cracking on the mower deck. Both needed some welding done.

I was curious if you followed through and did this job? How long does it take? Mine is leaking too......

I bought the o-rings but never got around to attempting it yet!

I changed mine today. It took a couple hours. I didn't know what I was doing and could probably do it in 0.5h now. Drive out the two roll pins (I used a nail). Remove the three locking nuts. Wiggle around handle to remove 2 of the 3 ball joints. Remove the 3 allen head bolts. Pull off the plate. Then use a screw driver to pop off two caps on shafts. This will expose the two o-rings on the tops side. The O-rings on the bottom side are similar, but exposed by removing the caps held on by two allen head screws each. It's pretty straight forward.

I don't know why, but to roll the bucket (push out on the lever), the lever has been a bit "sticky" lately. I thought changing the o-rings might fix that issue. It didn't. However, I did fix the oil drip. If anyone knows why the lever doesn't slide freely, please let me know how I might fix that.
