what was the temp when it acted up? could possibly have been some ice in the fuel filter and restricted a lil fuel. truck stops are "very" busy and your fuel could have come from a near empty tank and got some water mixed in. just a possibility.

Possible, but not likely. If I recall correctly it was just as cold (and had been overnight) as the day it sounded off. I ran it again for a while yesterday and all sounds well now. Maybe it was ME. I had a doozy of a cold last week. Maybe my head was so plugged it modified my hearing and it just sounded different 'cuz of that. ('Course that doesn't explain the reduction in power...) Whatever the case, it seems to be OK now.
