Snow GC2300 to move snow

Winter will soon be on us and here in western PA, I think we will have plenty of snow to move. Of course I plan to use my 2300's FEL to remove snow from the driveway. Was thinking of getting a sno-blower...but maybe next year.

So to prevent my blacktop from getting scraped up I was thinking of putting something on the bottom of the bucket. Maybe some thin strips of oak. But I think what would be nice is a couple hard plastic "runners" that would hook over the front of the bucket and attach in the back in some fashion. Maybe just a bungie that attaches to the rear top of the bucket.

Before I start searching far and wide for something like this I thought I would tap the TBN knowledge bank first.

Hey Lou, I have a GC2300 in western NY. Moved lots of snow last year--some with FEL, some with rear blade, and some with blower. The FEL will work (my drive is dirt/gravel), but you don't have the ability to windrow snow off to the side that you do with an angled rear blade. All you can practically do with the FEL is push and stack. There's definately a place for that, but depending on your circumstances, you might run out of room for snow before winter's out.

I have a front-mount blower which I love, but I know a lot of folks on here have less expensive but just as capable rear-mounts. Combined with the FEL you could keep on the front, that might be an ideal combo for you. At a minimum, I would consider a rear blade.

I use a FEL on my tractor to do my driveway. My drive is not long (Approx 50 to 60 ft) but is very wide. Three cars wide and all concrete. Using my loader I just push everything straight out and then off to the side. Yes you have spill off to the sides so I do have to back up and go over it a couple of times. I have used the back blade and found that you still get spill out of the front side. And once you do have the snow pilled to one side or the other, then the back blade can't push the snow over anymore once it has sat for a while. This is also true with front mount blades. But I agree the front mounted snow blower is the best. But for me I think I will just stay with my FEL rather than a blade.

I too was concerned about scraping up the drive way.
As you thought ,I went to the local saw mill and got a 2x4x8' piece of oak for about 5.00.
I bolted it length wise behind the front wear bar.
No more scrapes, functions fine and wears like "iron'.
My bucket is 4' wide , now I have 2 "wear bars".
