Backhoe GC2310 backhoe swivel seat

Hi, I was looking at my swivel seat base, and I was wondering if I put stiffer coil springs on pin that hinges the base, would it lift better? My wife has trouble holding up weight of seat to turn it and get it locked. I also notice bottom lever will bind against seat support while I raise it and have to unlatch it again. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Do other tractor brands or swivel seats for boats, etc. do a better job? plowking

I have found the seat to be kinda crappy. The springs seem kinda weak ( when you move the seat from side to side ) and moving the seat from front to back ( backhoe ) is a pain , as it binds.... for quick jobs, I just leave the seat as it is and turn around and operate the hoe.... this is and the rollbar is the only complaint I have so far, the roll bar is so tall and I have no hills and I have to keep folding it to go into my garage. ( I know... it for safety, oh... and I bypassed the seat switch.... as a hot diesel engine should not be shut off all of a sudden, again for safety but I value the cost of the unit more.... just have to be more carefull... ) It is an amazing unit! I could write a novel on what I have done so far, and I have only had it for a few months !!! I have done so much with it, although you have to do it slower than a full blown $100K plus unit !!! It gets the job done, and I am sure for most of us, it is for fun/yard work than making a living....

Sorry for rambling a bit on your post, just am so amazed and happy with this machine that i wanted to share...... I had a JD garden tractor which was fine for grass but beyond that for the size and that JD does not make a simular unit with a hoe and for the fact that I safed a ton of green and purchaed RED !! ( That and growing up on the farm, green was forbiden ! lol ) But again, to your post, the seat sucks....

I looked at seat again, am I am thinking of adding bushings to pivot points or gas struts like they have on SUV to hold up back window. I think that if spring had more force it would hold bottom lever from closing when you lift seat. An air suspension seat or air bag could work, but be stiff on it's highest setting. plowking
