Just discovered that both MMM lifting arms have had their forward 90-degree spacer pieces break off- welds have let go.

Doesn't look like it's real serious, and can certainly wait 'til spring for repair, but.... anybody else seen this happen? Bit of a surprise!:(

Pics only show right side, but the left side's identical. Curiouser and curiouser.... Just happened to notice while lubing spots I missed the other day.

Interesting. What function does that part serve? The arms appear to be able to function fine without it. It seems like it is installed in the wrong position?

If the bracket was installed with the part that broke facing forward, rather than down, it would seem to be more logical. This would allow the lifting arm to drop without bottoming out on the bracket.

You say both sides are broken, guess must have been a rookie welder that welded those onto your's.Anyway your right about it not being serious something like that can be fixed by oneself if you can weld. Here's a pic from my repair manual as too how there supposed to be welded onto the arms.Larry

Okay, now it makes sense. Thanks, Larry.

For some reason, I thought the broken piece was part of the box, and not part of the arm.

Side loads on the deck would probably cause stress that would be applied there. Obviously, the welds were cold, and could not handle it.

I am totally unfamiliar with the MMM. I can't bring myself to put one on my TLB.

Yes, Ray, it's (supposed to be) part of the arm; sorry I didn't make that clear.

You're right, Larry- that's it, in the lower left corner of your parts diagram. Looks like its purpose is to keep the forward end of the arm more directly aligned with the rear pin.

And you're also right about the cold welds- doesn't look like there was ANY penetration of the 1/4" steel on the arm, just a fillet bead. Yup, I think I can fix that.

When I took a welding course a year or so ago, I concentrated on gas welding, which was the type that: a) I was most familiar with, and b) had the equipment right here. Got pretty fair at it.

And, yeah, I suppose I generate some good side loads with my less-than-perfect lawn on the MMM-- but was still surprised to see both of them broken off. (Hey, what's this thing here dangling down??)

I was just wondering if others had experienced similar breaks.... Maybe I was just lucky!

I had the front support for the MMM break, it snapped where the flat bars are welded to the round tube . I was the cause the front of the mower deck hitting a rock in the lawn, I was mowing in a new direction. I had driven on that rock many times . Had someone at work weld it back together but he did it backwards and I did not know it until I tried to put the mmm back on, had to cut it apart and get it welded again. The welds don't look pretty but worked, I plan on bring to a welding shop to make it look factory again. After seeing your problem I will looking more carefully under the tractor 2009 c g 2410 tlb

IrvingJ, I checked mine this PM and they are fine. It's good to know they need to be checked.

I had busted off a piece of the linkage because it inverted its position. I think I let the MMM get down too low and the linkage moved up when I raised it. Anyway, I had one side inverted and the other not. Next time when I raised the deck it broke.

And I had never taken the MMM off in the four years before that. Probably broke because I used the FEL to raise the front of the tractor to check a tire.

Weird I know but it was similar break, right at a weld.

I'm with you ray66v, residential lawn-mowing seems beneath the dignity of the tlb. But then I'm recovering from a woodshed session with irvingj to learn that MMM stood for Mid-Mount-Mower. I had ruled out candy pretty quickly, 2nd thought wuz Mid Motor Mount which still makes sense to me. Anyway please chock this up to my first experience with TBN posting. I still plead, "What? We don't talk lawns in January here in Me & NH!!" So if there's any other newbie out there too ignorant to recognize a tractor acronym I just want you to know you're not alone :) There's always the woodshed solution- thanks for clarifying for me irvingj.
