GC2310 TLB Thumb???

Any ideas if a thumb is available for the GC2310 backhoe?

I have seen sites with thumbs small enough for a 2310. I am not sure how useful it would be on a hoe that small, (you really don't have that much reach or lifting capacity). I once had to move a good size anvil for a neighbor and decided since it was attached to a stand, I would pick it up with the hoe, (used a chain), and drive away. Well, I did drive away but the front wheels were in the air! And that was not all that much weight. I don't think your going to pick up anything all that heavy with the thumb. Considering that you have to weld the thing on, you may as well go all the way and fabricate it too. It would be a waste if it was super heavy duty, so I don't think it would be a real big challenge to make. I am afraid that it will be like my 6" bucket, really cool to have but, not as useful as you think.

I seem to remember BroTek selling a thumb for the GC2310. I usually poke around the kubota forum while I check in to TBN and the reviews that I have read about the BroTek thumb on the BX's have all been very positive. Here is their website:

I believe they have several products that they sell on ebay.
I think I could justify a thumb just for the ease of cutting trees/branches and moving downed limbs. Seeing how I am always working alone it would be nice to essentially have another set of "hands."

I agree that a thumb could be very useful. I just don't think the amount of swing and lifting capacity in such a small hoe will really allow very much productivity.
I looked at the Bro-Tek and it looks good, (no welding). You guys go ahead and buy it and if its useful tell me and I'll get one.
Now the ripper/ trencher tool, Bro-Tek: Tractor Add Ons (bottom of the page) that looks even more interesting.

I ordered one, too. Richard was very easy to deal with and shipped it right away. I am anxious to put it to work this spring clearing trees and building a rock wall. It should be a very useful addition to my hoe.
