interesting, to me the blade that hit the rock-the belt should have slipped-is the belt too tight?

You would think the belt would break or slip off the pulley before it damaged anything in the PTO..

I've used lawnmower belts to lift axle tubes and engine blocks. I even pulled our forklift out the mid with one. They are surprisingly strong...

we are talking a mower deck, deck is supposed to be designed to have a weakest link. I cant believe AGCO would design a deck like that where if the blade hits something it falls on the transmission to take all the force. Something doesn't add up...its why I prefer belt driven decks over gear any day.....well until today that is. At least the gear driven decks use shearpins.
My Husvarna hit several rocks, stumps until I finally got it all cleared with my GC2410...belt always gave way first...its not the strength of the belt but the pulley system it rides should allow slippage at certain Gs.
