Everything is a judgement call. This one should be easy.

You will have to make judgement calls much less obvious than this, owning and operating this tractor.

Just to give you an idea of different levels in the sight glass. I repaired some o-rings in my FEL valve block due to a leak. Haven't added oil to top it off (going to do that next service). My level is not visible. I know from experience on my GC2300 that less than a 1/2 liter will bring it back into view. The second picture is the sight glass with the engine running. Play with the tractor a little bit. Make sure all the air is out of the lines.Put some weight in the bucket. Raise and lower your 3pt. There is probably a valve for the mid mount mower that has been closed to stop flow.Operate it, then you can close the valve again after raising it (so it doesn't interfere with the backhoe). You should make sure that it does work. It may lower VERY slowly with no weight on it.

Extend the FEL cylinders, retract them, see if it makes a difference in the sight glass.

When I first changed my hydro oil, it was very clear, needed full sun to see it. Now it is ready for another change and has oxidized to a yellowish tint.

"The control when put "down" did not alter anything in the 3-pt area."

Yep. The 3PH is powered only on the way up; going down is by gravity only. Assuming the MMM valve mentioned above is open, set the lever to the DOWN position and simply pull rearward/downward on the 3PH arms. With nothing attached -- no 3PH implements, no MMM -- those arms will just sit there and smile at you....

I know of no such approved filter.

Only the OEM and a NAPA filter, (the NAPA filter just came out), are known approved filters for this application. Both were using white, the last time I bought from them.

Hey Ray, any idea what the NAPA hydro filter number is?

Hey Ray, any idea what the NAPA hydro filter number is?

According to MF Red, it's Napa Gold #400361

It should be available now, or soon.

Based on previous experience, I would not expect it to be cheaper.

If anyone has price information on it, please let us know.

Thanks. I just picked up the MF OEM filter for around $33 last week b/c I had no idea NAPA has (or will have) one. I'd be curious to see what the price difference is (and to have the NAPA model number for future consideration). I've had good luck with NAPA/Wix fuel, air, and oil filters for my GC2410.

Just a wrap up post on this... Along with all the helpful perspective from this forum, I asked my small-engine mechanic about the hydro-fluid quantity/resolution and he was decisive: 12-1/2 liters is over full.

I was apprehensive about having fluid everywhere by draining from the main drain with a small container, but I cut the side from an empty (cleaned) gallon antifreeze jug and used the jugs' center line to indicate about 2 liters. Didn't figure that by using the breather cap as a 'vacumn' limiter you can very slowly drain just the right amount. I had set that amount as 2-1/2 liters, which I would then begin to add back to get to the right place.

The draining went silky smooth by using the breather cap and I stopped when it looked like 2-1/2 liters in the jug. And in spite of my concern, I was able to put the plug back in with almost no mess and even though I was not watching the glass - as I was focused on the drain plug - when I checked the sight glass...

Looks like 10 liters is the right amount.

Glad to hear about your successful adjustment regarding the proper level of fluid in the oil level window!
