Gc2610 540rpm pto and tach

I think he is talking about the gauge itself. They make 2 different gauge clusters for the 2600's and 2400's. He is stating that the gauge cluster he has on the 2610 is really supposed to be on the 2410. They have 2 different engine hp and gear setups.

My dealer told me that the only difference from a 2400 & a 2600 is they use the same engine but increase the rpms on the 2600. If what he says is true then would the rpm be the same on both machines for the PTO.:confused2:

True, but that is not the ONLY difference. I believe they also have different gear ratios in the hydro/pump unit. I am almost positive that they have different tachs too. I will try to get a pic of mine later today, and post.

As I have said several times now, I am sure glad my GC does not have a tach!!! :dance1::drink: They seem to cause a lot of trouble.

I own a 2610 and the tachometer is not the same as 2410. Check page 38 of the owners manual, it shows the difference between the two machines. Your 2610 tachometer has a white dot at 2889 rpm just before the green indicator, that's 540 for this machine. The 2410 has a white dot at 2500 where the "540" indicator logo is. Hope this helps.

Your dealership is looking a little cheesy to me.

Dspdante is correct, the white dot is at about 2800rpm, to get proper hydro flow and the smoothest running, you should run in the green, other wise there maybe a little hydro shutter. The manual clearly states to run the unit at 3000rpm when using the hydro pedals. It is a whole different machine when running at full speed. I use my backhoe a lot and found it will perform well at all speeds, just sloooooow if not running above 2500rpm

I believe the only difference in the transmission drive train on GC2400 vs. GC2600 is the number of teeth on the gears that drive the rear PTO shaft and mid PTO shafts to compenstae for the higher engine rpm's on the GC2600

Can someone elaborate on this? I was told there is a small kit you can buy to easily convert the GC24 to a GC26?

You know what, I withdraw the question because it doesnt matter-I'm very satisfied with the way it is. One extra HP on the PTO isnt enough to compensate for higher engine wear and tear.
