gear or hydro

I am thinking about upgrading my tractor. I mainly mow around 7 acres of pasture and yard I have a gear drive kubota (shuttle shift) and would like to know the pros and cons of the hydro for the jobs I do. With the gear I run low 4 with the hand throtle and just drive. Is it a pain to use the hydro pedals for large cutting areas. Thanks Randy

I have 10 acres of flat pasture--7 of them mowed with the brush hog. I've used a 4-ft hog on a Kubota B7510HST (hydrostatic, 21 hp engine, 4WD) and now use a 6-ft hog on a Mahindra 5525 (54 hp engine, 2WD, gear tranny). I don't notice any real difference in my comfort level either way--mostly because 7 acres is too small to make a difference in that regard.
