gear shift lever came off in my hand--YM240

I was shifting gears a few days ago and the gear shifter came out. My tractor was stuck in 7th gear. I removed the cover, got it back in neutral and it works again as long as I keep "down" pressure on the stick when shifting.

I looked in my shop manual and it appears that a clip is missing. Does anyone know what kind of clip it is?

Tractor is a YM240.

It is a 30mm snap ring. fairly common problem. You can see it Here #9.
