There is hardly anyone out there that will buy a ten dollar item at Joes Mom and Pop store when the same thing can be got for seven bucks across the street at a Big Box Store.

Every time someone makes a purchase at a convenience store, they pay more than at the big box store.

$140 Billion was spent in convenience stores last year.

You had to have got my point. Why not just walk around town and hand out money to the shop keepers. A little here, a little there. In a sense, it would be the same as making a decision to support them at an extra cost to you.

As far as the convenience stores go. I try and stay away from them as I feel I am supporting CULTURES, not of my own, which seems to be endangered.

And further more. Those people are all smiles when they take your money. Try asking for something "FREE" sometime.

People always speak like that. Yet, unless you are Wealthy and NOT trying to live on so much money like almost all of us, you spend your money where it costs less. There is hardly anyone out there that will buy a ten dollar item at Joes Mom and Pop store when the same thing can be got for seven bucks across the street at a Big Box Store.

JMO but it's sort of crass for a noob to attempt to request setting a forum precedent based on a personal bias...

AMZN stockholders are happy to see times of profits...for years they suffered through quarter after quarter of losses...a rising tide lifts all the boats...!

I don't understand the ire against a successful businessman. He had an idea, he pursued it, invested in it, developed it, and succeeded. What about that could possibly make someone ask others to not do business with him?

There is no logic in that kind of jealousy.

... and I'll be buying a book through his website this evening ... how's that for a nod to it's humble origins.

It makes no difference where anybody else gets their stuff, Ebay, Amazon, or a Mom and Pop local. If everybody on TBN stopped buying on Amazon, Mr. Bezos wouldn't even notice. I use Amazon a lot, but they are not my only go to source, but since their inventory is deep I find things there, check feedback on items and then based on that information check for the best price. Sometimes I buy from Ebay, sometimes locally but most often I buy from Amazon. Amazon takes care of its customers and that is more important to me than saving a few bucks or keeping a few bucks out of anyone's pockets just for spite or envy.

We use Amazon almost weekly and have never given them our credit card number or a check.

We purchase an Amazon gift card from the local store with cash before we place an order.

I have no problem with Jeff's original idea and development. I bought there for many years when he was still the littler guy trying to make his mark. When he decided he wanted to be the ONLY game in town and began actively and openly attempting to shut everyone else down is when I balked. He's not content with putting retailers and other websites out of business, he wants to move into the grocery store market. He bought a fleet of semis and leased a fleet of cargo planes so he could cut UPS and FedEx out of the loop. As noted above, he's started using Pat Doe to deliver your stuff. Just any Pat Doe that happens to sign up ... no concerns about security. Do you really want just anybody off the street delivering your stuff instead of a normal carrier service?

Having seen the way UPS and FedEx have handled my packages in the past, I'm certainly willing to give Pat Doe a chance. Besides, isn't Pat the little guy in that scenario?

I very rarely buy from Amazon but I do check their prices. Ebay sellers usually beat them.

Two things bug me about Amazon; one, the company treats their so called full fillment center workers like dirt and two; far to often, their site does not come up with the product that I am looking for.

Beyond that, I do not need "Elexa" to spy on me.
