Just keeping the equipment from the nasty weather when not in use will add more life, also help if you decide to trade or sell.

Poodle ala Orange:
glazed with orange marmalade and rasted in a 400 degree oven for 20 to 40 minutes depeding o the size of the dog. Then put some orange peel grated on top (mostly for decoration). Serve on the hood of the Bota!
Yum!
(note - never eat dogs that have had their shots, ruins the flavor) /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Buster3,
I have found over the years of buying tarps, that the blue ones just aren't worth it, not only does that Blue color stand out like a fart in church, the just don't hold up to the weather.
The blue ones are by far the least expensive to buy, but I have gone to using the silver ones, they are just a few dollars more, but are a much better quality tarp. I usually order mine through Harbor Freight and Tools, several differant sizes at a time. I kinda stocked up a year or so ago when they had them on a 50% off sale.
My JD 950 was kept covered with one all winter and still is, for I have no other place to keep it.

I vote for putting the Mustang in the sheep shack. Get some concrete pads or poor 4 small pads for it so it can be blocked up. Purchase a nice breathable car cover for it. Install a good tarp over the door and over the top of the car (covered with the car cover) on the most exposed top and hood etc. Tell the FIL that the Kubota has hydrulaic cylinders and exposed working parts that will be ruined by exposure to the elements and that California Car Inc. does not make an Evolution 3 car (tractor) cover. Then place the Kubota that cost way more than the rusted stang will ever be worth in the garage. Those cars were not all that good anyway, a Ford Falcon chassis with a 289 or a big six stuck in it. I agree with the above posters that suggest the Mustang be moved to the sheep shed. If not the shed would be a much better alternative to outdoor storage. I store both my CJ-5 and Kubota in a dirt floored pole barn. I had a tough time even showing my Bota to my Dad, a 1st Division Marine veteran of Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester and Peleliu. I tried to tell him the green machines and others were largely Japanese machines but I don't think he was listening. All he saw was orange I'm afraid.

Thomas,
The coffee can on the exhaust stack is a trick I picked up from my father. He always used to do the same on our tractors while I was growing up.

I had one of those aluminum "carports" put up, jumbo size (see photo). It's only a roof but it's big enough so not much hits the tractor unless it's blowing real hard. And yes it's leaning a bit...it was not quite complete in this photo.

Tony,
Nice set up you have started there. It wouldn't really take a whole lot to close in your carport if you ever chose to.
