All the TN's had problems with the shifting linkage seizing up when they first released the tractors but NH did correct that problem as well as bring in all the TN's that were sold since they were introduced and fixed the linkages on all of them whether they needed to be fixed or not just to be sure. I had problems with the linkage and a bolt that came out that holds the lift arms which ended up draining all the hydrolic fluid out in the field and forced me to park the tractor till the flat bed showed up which was the next morning since they were closed when it happened. Also the only other problem I had was a burr in the power steering connector which caused a leak under the steering column. All of this was in the first couple months. In the 2+ years since I have had zero problems and am sold on NH products. The company takes care of their customers and you don't have to call hundreds of times. Just tell the dealer and they take care of it.

John, do you like the grey belly or black belly NH's better? I have gotten use to the grey bellied tractors and when I look at the new TN's with the black it takes some getting use to. They both look nice though.

Hi Robert...

To tell you the truth I never really thought about it... I did like the Massey's grey though...

As long as it has lots of torque and its not a "yellow" belly ... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif... it doesn't matter I guess... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

If you had taken time to learn the capabilities of the digital dash before critiquing it, you would know that hours, PTO rpm, engine rpm and the time are available in the main display by pressing a rocker switch. The tach bar graph remains at the top for reference while other info is in the main display. I would be interested in knowing which models use an inline injection pump. I have worked on 4430's, 4835's, 5635's, TNF's, TN's and TL's with Iveco engines. I have yet to see anything other than a Bosch rotary injection pump on any of them. Some of these tractors are well over 5000 hours, and to my knowledge, a grand total of one injector has been changed, no pump work at all.

Hi Rick:

The next time I look over a used NH unit, I'll be sure to ask for and read the entire operator's manual before offering any opinions. I mean, that's how your sales guys approach it, correct? As it so happened, my obviously inadequate dealer and I were struggling to get the range selector to go into A or B. After we finally go it to select a range, I noticed that I didn't have any sort of tach to work from -- just the hour reading. That's when they pointed out the bar graph on the top of the screen, which I still think is fairly lame. I commented on such, and they agreed. Maybe it just slipped their mind that this could be changed -- I dunno. Obviously ignorance is no excuse with this crowd.

As for the fuel pumps, your sarcastic approach notwithstanding, I think we'll all quite obviously defer to your experience. I must have gotten it mixed up with the TC pumps. However, I do stand by my opinion [not that it requires justification]. We've run several of our tractors up to 7000 hours, and our combines to more than 3000 hours. In our experience with various pumps and configurations, the inline pumps have generally proved to be more robust. The Cummins B5.9 enthusiasts also would agree in regards to the inline P7100 vs. the rotary VE44 found on the ISB5.9. Likewise, I have never been a fan of the Stanydyne pumps, nor the Lucas variety. We've had little trouble with the Bosch products, though. Again, it was obviously my error in stating the engine had an inline pump. Thank you for graciously pointing that out.

You know the funny thing is that I actually like the TN models. Like everything, there is some pro & con. I'll be sure to keep such future comments in check, lest I raise the ire of anyone offended by such comments.

Later,
Jay

I post occasionally on several discussion boards, and I can tell you the hardest lesson I had to learn was to be sure not to post false or misleading info. I don't care whether you like the TN digital dash, and I respect your right to tell others of your likes and dislikes. Just don't mislead folks into thinking the only capability of that dash is a bargraph for RPM's and a 2 inch display of engine hours. You are perpetuating the ignorance of the sales guy who doesn't know his product, as well as misinforming those who come here to gain information. Not to mention annoying those of us who know better. 50 series Deere Waterloo tractors use the same format, as do some CaseIH tractors. I run a 1660 CaseIH combine once in a while, it has an LCD readout of one function selected from several. There is no bar graph to show ERPM's while, say, fan speed is displayed. I would prefer there was, but hey, that's just my opinion.
In general, I agree with your assesment of rotary vs. inline pumps. Again, I was trying to figure out what you were talking about, as my experience didn't agree. If you don't like my attitude compare it to the second paragraph of your first post, that's where most of it came from.

I have a TN75D. 16 x 16 Power Shuttle. I would highly recommend this transmission. My machine also has the quick attach MSL loader. Again this seems to be working out well.

The ability to flip from forward to reverse at pretty much any speed and have the modulated shift smooth as silk is very nice. The MSL bucket took a little getting used to as on my other machines I have to manually use the bucket joy stick to keep the bucket level. The display is fine. One click ot the button and th edisplay changes from total hours, engine RPM, PTO RPM. PTO RPM is very useful when I want to set up my backhoe for certain tasks- it makes it very repeatable.
