There's an insulator pipe around the actual exhaust pipe. I didn't want someone to grab onto it and accidentally burn themselves. The big insulator going through the roof keeps it from setting the shed on fire.
But running the exhaust outside like that and up really helps with the noise. That Cummins runs at 1800rpm so it's not very noisy to start with though. That one runs off propane.
